2023 CASMS Young Investigator Award [Application]

CASMS Young Investigator Award:

This award aims to recognize rising stars and outstanding researchers in the field of mass spectrometry. The award is designed to identify and acknowledge young scientists who have made a significant impact in their early career stage. Candidates from all major sectors including academia, industry and government laboratories will be considered. The selection of awardees will be announced at the CASMS Annual Conference. The 2023 awardees will each receive a $500 cash award and a recognition plaque, and will be invited to present an award lecture at the 3rd CASMS annual conference (August 28-31, 2023).

Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must be current CASMS members who are within 10 years of receiving the Ph.D. in the year the nomination is considered.

Application Materials Should Include:

  • A nomination package (one single pdf file):
    • Contact information of the nominee and nominator
      • Name, professional title, organization and email
    • Up to 2-page nomination letter by the nominator (*self-nomination is not allowed)
    • 1-page self-statement by the nominee
    • Current CV of the nominee

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Academic and scientific accomplishments
  • Original contributions to the field
  • Significance, innovation and impact of the work
  • Relevance to the mission of CASMS

CASMS Young Investigator Award:

The 2024 awardees will each receive a $500 cash award and a recognition plaque, and will have opportunity to present an award lecture at the 2024 in-person CASMS meeting on November 1 at Sheraton Valley Forge outside of Philadelphia.

 

Nominee Eligibility:

Nominees must be current CASMS members who are within 10 years of receiving the Ph.D. in the year the nomination is considered.

 

Application Materials Should Include:

–        A nomination package (one single pdf file):

o   Names of the nominee, nominator and the individual who will provide the supporting letter

o   1-page nomination letter by the nominator (*self-nomination is not allowed)

o   1-page self-statement by the nominee

o   Current CV of the nominee

–        One supporting letter that will be submitted online separately by the letter-writer

How to Submit:

–        The nomination package should be submitted by the nominee or nominator, who needs to login as CASMS member at CASMS website to submit.

–        The supporting letter should be submitted directly by the letter-writer. The person who provides the supporting letter does not need to be a CASMS member.

–        All materials including the nomination package and recommendation letter should be submitted online at https://casms.org/index.php by August 1, 2024.

Note:

–        Nominators do not need to be CASMS members. However, if nominators want to submit the nomination package, they need to be current CASMS members.

–        Nominations can be held for three years as long as the nominees are eligible for award consideration.
